Teaching the "concept of finished" is one of the most important skills any individual with autism can learn. In fact, everything they do in life will be dependent on their ability to understand the beginning, middle, and most importantly end of an activity. Traditionally we teach this concept with a structured activity like this:
The student picks up the items from the container and puts them in the hole until they are all gone - then shows completion of the activity by putting it away.
